MESSAGE FROM VICAR

Dear All,

Greetings to all of you in this New Year. By the time that you read this article a new year would have been born inside you. The month of January is derived from mythical figure Janus (the two faced figure which looks into the past and the future). So it’s an apt time to make new decisions in life with a firm foundation in our spiritual legacy of our faith and a clear vision for the future. The decisions we make now will be the stamp of the new identity which God wants to give you in this New Year. When we are In-Christ experience we will experience a new self and identity.

It will help us to discard the selfish and sinful identities that we acquired in our lust for fame, prosperity and pleasure. We have some important Christian dates in this quarter. On January the first Sunday we pray for the missionary work of our church outside of Kerala which includes this American Diocese. So it’s time to remember our forefathers with Vision who went off to far off places to witness Christ in their lives. It’s also a time dedicate our lives in this era as Missionaries for Christ in our own context. We will celebrate the Baptism of our Lord on January 6th. On Jan 8th we pray for people who are addicted to alcohol and other drug abuse. Let’s take a firm decision to abstain from alcohol use in our family.

In February first week we remember and pray for our men and women of faith in our community and the world who are engaged in medical field. It’s on Medical Mission Sunday we remember that medical work is not simply an industry or business, as it is interpreted now, but it’s God’s Mission to those He had entrusted it. On February 12th our world renowned Maramon Bible convention starts which had been a spiritual inspiration for our community in Kerala for more than a century. On February 19th our Great lent of fifty day starts which ends by Easter celebration. Let’s spiritually prepare our body and mind to celebrate these festivals in a manner God expects from us.

Lent, in our spiritual legacy, is a time for reconciliation, purification and spiritually identifying with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. On July 20, 21 and 22nd of 2012 our church is hosting the National Edvaka Mission Conference. Please do pray for the blessings of this conference which will be attended by more than 150 delegates from throughout this nation. The conference venue will be our church itself. So it’s a time to network our resources and shoulder responsibility by every member with a spiritual vision to make this conference a really memorable event. Thanks a lot for the continued support and pray for us as a family in serving this church and community. Please do bring in new ideas and questions about your faith to me. If you need guidance and counseling in your family and personal life do share with me. I promise to help you according to the resources God had entrusted me and to put it to the Lord and specially to keep it close to my heart. With lots of Love and Prayers from, Benuachen, Jolly and Abhishek

With love of prayers and love
